Cygames has announced two new control schemes for Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising, with the peak of simple controls via its Super Ultimate scheme.

Coming in the 2.4 update launching tomorrow, the Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising Super Ultimate controls take the already-simple control scheme of the game to make it truly accessible to even the most inexperienced players.

While Granblue Fantasy Versus had previously pioneered the one-button specials that defined its playstyle, the new Super Ultimate Controls take it a step further- the entire game is now playable on a single button.

Here, mashing the attack button doesn't just throw out attacks- it even moves your character into place, doing pre-baked combos and the like.

Meanwhile, releasing the attack button instead blocks automatically- in the character demo it looks like it will even block mixups for you, changing between a high and low guard .

The control scheme won't be available for online play- instead only being usable in Arcade, Survival, Training and Local Versus, not unlike Dynamic Controls in Street Fighter 6.

As an in-between the game is also introducing Smart Controls, which behave more similarly to Modern controls in Street Fighter- the mode adds autocombos for mashing the same button, though manual control can still be taken by inputting the buttons you want.

This mode decreases SSBA gain, as well as lower damage and effective HP when used in a match.

Simplified controls are one of the key accessibility features of modern fighting games: Street Fighter 6 launched with Modern Controls, while Tekken 8 featured its Simple Style.
